Yaverland – this magnificent bay is characterised by the craggy cliffs and clean, crisp waters. Quieter than the other beaches between Sandown and Shanklin, Yaverland offers safe swimming and fossil hunting by the cliffs.
There is the Isle of Wight Zoo and the Dinosaur Isle museum just a short stroll away, plus a sailing club, and a variety of water sports.
Yaverland is within the Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Sandown Bay encompasses a wide variety of important marine habitats and coastal features and is designated as part of the South Wight Maritime Special Area of Conservation. It has particular geological interest to the north and the cliffs around the Bay are designated as a Site of importance for Nature Conservation for their plans, mosses and liverworts and interesting geological features.
Sandown Beach is one of the Isle of Wight’s finest and most recognised beaches, with miles of soft golden sands crowned by Sandown’s pleasure pier. Popular with tourists and surfers, Sandown is a traditional ‘bucket and spade’ holiday beach with all that you expect from an English family seaside town.
Sandown’s esplanade has traditional seaside cafés, souvenir and beach shops, whilst the pier has amusements galore, including a crazy golf course.
The beach has several outlets to hire deck chairs, sun loungers and windbreaks, as well as daily or weekly hire of beach huts. There are various cafés offering takeaway food, drink and ice creams for picnics on the beach.
The main seafront has plenty of parking, traditional hotels – some with palm-filled gardens, others with decking and terraces and wonderful views of the beach. Running parallel behind the beachfront is the High Street that has a selection of arty and tourist style shops along with supermarkets, pubs, cafes, restaurants, takeaways and cash machines.

Safety Information (COVID-19)
The accommodation will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with government guidelines prior to guests’ arrival.
A cleaning checklist will be completed for each clean and will be signed and dated by our housekeeper.
All touchpoints such as door handles, light switches etc will be cleaned individually using EN 14476/EN1276 antiviral cleaner.
Standard Cleaning: Our cleaning will be to a high standard, with the addition of hard surfaces being cleaned with an industry standard anti-viral disinfectant.
The Welcome Folder has been removed from the property and this will now be available to guests electronically by email prior to arrival date. We can arrange to send by post if no access to email.
Games, DVD’s and Leaflets: We have decided to remove these from the accommodation to eliminate risk of contamination.
TV: The TV and Remote Controls will be cleaned with anti-viral cleaner between every departure and arrival.
Soft Furnishings: Soft furnishings will be left in place and sprayed with a disinfectant spray and will eliminate 99.999% of bacteria and viruses. These will be sprayed with enough time to allow fabrics to dry before new guests arrive.
Bedding/Towels: All bedding, including throws, duvet covers, sheets, pillowcases, protectors, bath mat & tea towels will be laundered after every guest’s departure. We have 2 sets of everything. This means that the sets for your stay will have been washed a minimum of 3 days prior to your arrival and the only people who will have touched it will be the laundry company, and then our housekeeper on changeover. They will be laundered at 60 degrees wash.
The beds are normally made up ready for use prior to your arrival, but if you wish, the fresh linen could be left in the box for you to make up yourselves, or if you prefer you are able to bring your own bedding. We would need advance notice of one week either way.
We ask our guests to strip the beds prior to departure but not to shake down as this could risk contamination by making any virus airbourne.
There will be fresh mattress protectors on all the beds and these must remain on the beds. You’re welcome to put your own protectors over the top of ours if you prefer.
Crockery and Cutlery: Although crockery and cutlery will already be clean, we recommend washing in hot soapy water before use.
Check-In and Check-Out:
Check-in time will be at 4pm and it will be contactless. The key will be left in the disinfected key-safe. The key-safe code and wifi password will be sent by email prior to arrival.
Check-out time is 10am
